Monday on Police Pod Talk hear the first of a three part conversation with my brother, Jeff, out of Michigan. Jeff and I will discuss our lives growing up in an all black neighborhood and then moving out into the suburbs into an all white neighborhood where a petition was started to have our family removed, what it was like riding the bus to and from school and the impact it had on our lives to this day. We will also talk about what we learned from our parents and what we see going on with the issues all of us are struggling with at this time.

During this pandemic and time of being quarantined with your family there comes a point where we can all start to get on each others nerves. Before you know it things are said, words are exchanged and in some cases violence occurs with injuries and then someone is arrested. Cathy Maggart, the Domestic Violence Coordinator with the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, discusses the recent uptick in cases and arrests at this time. He will also explain why he feels he had an advantage of understanding both the black and the white race. He will share how he felt during and after the George Floyd incident and who helped him through it and why some of the activities that he always enjoyed doing prior to the incident now causes him fear and hesitation. He shares his unique solution on how we can all come together to heal as a community and as a nation.
